Selected works: 21 Minutes of Music for
Organ, Ave Maria for choir and 7 instruments, Microsonatina
for solo flute, Recuerda for symphony orchestra, two string
quartets, Ping Violin Tape Pong for violin and tape, U 00
for tape, Dissociations for solo accordion, Scheshem,
instrumental theatre for instrumental ensemble, four actors,
tape and video.
Dissociations is inspired by electronic
sounds. The piece explores the stereophonic nature of the
accordion and the possibility of fast exchange of sound
between the performer's right and left hand. The title
refers to the phenomenon of the splitting of a molecule into
smaller elements: atoms and ions. The sounds and phrases are
subjected here to the process of musical dissociation, the
result being a vibrating, revolving sound.
The work was commissioned by the 'Warsaw Autumn' Friends'
Foundation and financed with funds from the Ernst von
Siemens Musikstiftung.
