Born in 1944, he is one of the leading
personalities in Romanian music, highly recognised as
composer, performer and critic. He studied musical
phenomenology and conducting (with Sergiu Celibidache).
In 1976 he founded the 'Hyperion' chamber music ensemble,
which brings together leading musicians dedicated to the new
aesthetics of the Romanian spectralist avangarde.
His compositions are based on ultraspectralism and
acousmatics from a phenomenological point of view.

Remote Pulsar. The music is made up of
computer-generated sounds, as well as those of the viola,
cello, prepared piano and percussion. In its essence, the
music is as genuine as the map of the outer space, which is
at the same time abstract. I imagined as yet unheard sounds
and produced them by means of special computer programmes,
as a cosmic reflection, in which computer sounds were mixed
with the natural sources of transfigured acoustic sounds of
classical instruments. The piece is dedicated to the 'Pro
Contemporania' Ensemble.
