Based in Cracow, he studied composition and theory of music with Bogusław Schaeffer at the Academy of Music in Cracow (1965-70). He composes in many genres, especially electroacoustic and computer music, as well as multimedia music, in co-operation with the painters Andrzej Ziębliński and Ewa Horawa-Ławrusiewicz. In 1977, as a scholar of the French government, he worked in the Groupe de Recherches Musicales and the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique in Paris. His works were performed at many festivals of new music, including the Warsaw Autumn', the Poznań Musical Spring' and the iscm festival. His With Subtitle - Euridice's Dream won an award at the 7th International Competition of Electroacoustic Music in Bourges (1978). He also writes incidental music for the theatre and film music. For many years he has co-operated with the Studio of Cartoon Films in Cracow (Parade by Jerzy Kucia, Metamorphoses by Łucja Mr-z-Raynoch - his music for the latter was awarded at the State Festival of Short Films in Cracow in 1989). The composer collaborates with Jerzy Ridan, the director of documentary and feature films (The Marymont Sonata, Cinéma-Théâtre).
He has been associated for many years with the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Cracow. In 1991-1998 he was the director of its Department of Music and Sound Realisation. He is a co-founder of the Spatial Music Studio, linked to the theatre.

Selected works: 2m91 for tape (1991), Aura I for tape (1992), Logo for tape (1994), Between Night and Day (pantomime, 1996), Invocazioni intorno for horn and percussion (1997), The January Fantasia for piano (2000), In principio erat Verbum for choir and tape (2000), Ave Crux for choir (2001), The Sun Gate II for tape (2001), Fantasia for baroque violin and electroacoustic layer (2002).

Composing my Fantasia for baroque violin and electroacoustic layer, I was thinking about connecting the solo violin part with the accompaniment' realised by using the electronic and computer devices. Although I was aware of the historical distance dividing these two means of expression (I felt it especially strongly when I started working on this idea), I decided to explore this subject because I saw the possibility of creating a common ground of expression. The source material is based on the motifs performed by Agnieszka Rychlik on the baroque violin.
