Maria Peszek was born in 1973 in Wroc³aw.
She studied at the University of Alaska in Anchorage as well
as at the State Higher School of Drama in Cracow. She is a
theatre, film and television actress, associated with the
Studio Theatre in Warsaw. She has given guest performances
at the National Theatre, the 'Rozmaitoæciñ Theatre and the
Video-Theatre 'Pozañ. She has collaborated with such
directors as Jerzy Grzegorzewski, Krystian Lupa, Rudolf Zio³o,
Oskaras Kor¹unovas, Jerzy Stuhr, Piotr Cieplak, Piotr üazarkiewicz
and Wojciech Waglewski.
Maria Peszek has received many prizes for her roles,
including Second Prize at the 'Kalisz Theatre Meetings' (for
the role of Simoninia in God's Words by Valle-Inclan at the
'Rozmaitoæci' Theatre, 1999) and the Szczecin Friends'
Society Prize at the National Review of the Small Forms
Theatre (for her role in Bam by Daniel Charms at the Studio
Theatre, 1999). In 2000 she took part in the Review of Actor's
Song in Wroc³aw, receiving Second Prize, the zasp (The
Association of Polish Stage Artists) Prize as well as the
prizes of both audience and journalists. This year Maria
Peszek was honoured by the Festival of Polish Radio and tv
Theatre 'Two Theatres' for her performance of Agafia
Tikhonovna in The Marriage by Nicolai Gogol. |
