Łukasz Borowicz was born in 1977 in
Warsaw. He graduated with distinction from the Chopin
Academy of Music in Warsaw in Bogusław Madey's conducting
class. In the artistic season 2000/2001 he was assistant
conductor to Iván Fischer at the Budapest Festival
Orchestra. He received a grant to study at the Accademia
Musicale Chigiana with Gianluigi Gelmetti in 1999 and 2000.
He has been awarded several prizes at conducting
competitions, including the 6th International Antonio
Pedrotti Competition in Trento (Second Prize, 1999), the
International Dmitri Mitropoulos Competition in Athens
(Fourth Prize - honourable mention, awarded by jury chairman
Sir Neville Marriner, 2000), the International Competition
'Maestro Silva Pereira' in Porto (Second Prize, 2002). His
cd of Polish classical music for Acte Préalable was
nominated for the 'Fryderyk 2000' Prize.
He co-founded the Polish Orchestra 'Jeunesses Musicales' and
has taken part in several international festivals, such as
'Musica' 900 di Trento', 'Minsk Spring', 'Planet's Stars'
(Crimea), 'Warsaw Autumn'.
He has conducted the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Danish
Radio Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic
Orchestra of Belarus, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of
Ukraine, the 'Orchestra of Colours' (Athens), the 'Orchestra
Haydn Bolzano e Trento', the Festival Orchestra of Sofia,
the Orquestra de Cadaques, Orquestra Nacional do Porto,
North Hungarian Symphony Orchestra (Miskolc), matáv
Symphony Orchestra (Budapest), the Warsaw Philharmonic,
Polish Orchestra 'Jeunesses Musicales', the 'Capella
Bydgostiensis', the Toruń Chamber Orchestra, the Symphony
Orchestra of the 'Roma' Music Theatre, and the symphony
orchestras in Białystok, Częstochowa, Jelenia Góra,
Kalisz, Lublin, Olsztyn, Rzesz-w, Szczecin and Wałbrzych.
His recordings were broadcast by Polish Radio 2, Polish
Radio bis, Radio Classic, Polish tv 2, Italian Television
rai, Greek tv and Radio, Danish tv and Radio, Radio Portugal
and Hungarian Television |
