Urszula Kryger studied at the Music Academy
in £ód¼, from which she graduated both in piano and in
voice (diploma in 1992 in the class of Jadwiga
Pietraszkiewicz). She studied also under André Orlowitz in
Copenhagen. In 1992 she won the S. Moniuszko International
Vocal Competition in Warsaw, in 1994 she was awarded First
Prizes at the Brahms International Competition in Hamburg
and the 43rd ard International Music Competition in Munich.
A year later she performed a Chopin song recital at Milan's
La Scala. In 1996 she made her international operatic debut
as Angelina in Rossini's La Cenerentola in Dresden's Semper
Oper.
A versatile singer, she feels equally at home in Lied,
chamber music, oratorios and cantatas. She has worked with
many prominent conductors such as Jan Krenz, Jerzy Semkow,
Rafael Fr¼hbeck de Burgos, Hans-Martin Schneidt and Colin
Davis, and her partner-pianists on the concert stage have
included such prominent names as Hartmut H¹ll, Charles
Spencer, Melvyn Tan and Pascal Rogé.
She has made radio recordings in many European countries.
Her recent cds feature songs by Chopin, C. Loewe and
Moniuszko ('Mickiewicz and Music', Engram, 1998), 'Chansons
Polonaises' by Poulenc (Decca, 1999) and 'Russian Duets',
recorded with Jadwiga Rappé (alto), Jerzy Knetig (tenor)
and Tomasz Herbut (piano) for dux, in collaboration with
Polish Radio 2.
