Bartosz Koziak was born in 1980 in
Zakopane. He began to study the cello at the age of seven.
He graduated from the Władysław Żeleński Secondary Music
School in Cracow, where he studied with Kazimierz Michalik.
In 1988 he won First Prize at the National Cello Competition
in Elbląg and an award of the Polish Journalists'
Association in the Competition for the Musical Personality
of the City of Cracow. He has also held a grant from the
Ministry of Culture and Art.
Last year he collected the top accolades at the 3rd Witold
Lutosławski International Cello Competition (First Prize
and the Special Prize of Polish Radio 2).
He has taken part in master classes in Besançon, Barcelona,
Głuchołazy (given by Roman Jabłoński) and in Żagań
(under the guidance of Kazimierz Michalik and Andrzej
Bauer). At present he is a student of K. Michalik and A.
Bauer at the Academy of Music in Warsaw. He regularly
performs in Poland and abroad as a soloist and in chamber
ensembles. |
