Born in 1953 in Cracow, he studied the
organ with Leszek Werner and composition with Bogusław
Schaeffer at the Music Academy in Cracow. He is now an
Associate Professor of composition there. He has been
working with the Academy's Electroacoustic Music Studio
since 1976. In 2000 he was appointed its Director.
In 1977 he founded the 'Muzyka Centrum' Artistic
Association. It has given about 400 concerts of new music.
He is also a founder of the 'mch Studio' and (together with
Krzysztof Knittel and Piotr Bikont) co-founder of 'Freight
Train' and the Ch&K Studio (with Knittel).
Since 1987 he has organized the 'Audio Art' concert series.
He is the initiator and Artistic Director of the
International 'Audio Art' Festival and of International
Contemporary Music Workshops Cracow/Stuttgart (with Matthias
Hermann). Since 1990 he has given concerts (mainly of live
computer music), run courses and given lectures in computer
music in many European countries, the United States and
Canada. In 1993-99 he served as Artistic Director of the
Internationale Akademie fĽr Neue Komposition und Audio Art
in Schwaz (Austria).
His output includes instrumental and electro-acoustic music,
computer audio-visual compositions, as well incidental music
for the theatre, music for films, radio and television. He
is the author of spatial projects Statek Artyst-w and
gps-Art. |
