'Aukso' Chamber Orchestra was established
in Tychy, near Katowice, in February 1998 as a result of
joint initiative of Marek Moć and a group of up-and-coming
musicians, students of the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy
in Katowice. The repertoire of the orchestra comprises a
wide range of classical, Romantic and contemporary works,
with an emphasis on Polish music. The inaugural concert took
place during the 10th 'Days of Music by Cracow Composers'
and included the first performance of a newly-discovered
Suite by Ignacy Jan Paderewski and the Piano Concerto 'Valse
boston' by Giya Kancheli (with Janusz Olejniczak). The
performance of the latter work received a critics' award. In
the wake of several major successes at home in 1999, the
'Aukso' Orchestra was invited by Rudolf Barshay to give
joint performances in Switzerland in 2000. In the same year
it performed in Tychy with Leo Brouwer on the conductor's
podium. In 2000 the orchestra launched the annual summer
festival in Wigry, north-eastern Poland known as the 'Aukso
Philharmonic'.
Marek Moć is a well-known violinist and
chamber musician. He has been Artistic Director and
conductor of 'Aukso' Orchestra since its foundation in 1998.

Vredenburg in Utrecht, the Schauspielhaus in Berlin, the
Tivoli in Copenhagen, the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf, 'De
Singel' in Antwerp, the Merkin Hall in New York and the
Jordan Hall in Boston.
Marek Moć performed in the premieres of over 30 works by
Polish and foreign composers, many of which have been
dedicated to the Quartet. He has also made numerous
recordings for Polish Radio and TV, as well as such labels
as Partridge, Thesis, Olympia, Vergo and CD Accord. Many of
these recordings have won prestigious awards of Polish
