Michael von Hintzenstern is the founder of the Ensemble für Intuitive Musik Weimar. He studied organ, conducting and music history. He is the winner of the International Composition Competition in Boswil, Switzerland (1976).
He plays the original Liszt organ, which he discovered in 1980. In 1988 he initiated the annual festival of contemporary music 'Tage Neuer Musik' in Weimar, and in 1989 founded the association 'Klang Projekte Weimar'.
He is also active as a writer on music and editor, as well as organizer of innovative concert series. He received the award of the City of Weimar for the promotion of new music (1996).
