Christine Michaela Pryn was born in 1976. She made her debut on Danish Radio at the age of nine. After four years of studies with Peder Elbaek at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen (1992-95), she continued her education at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music and the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen with Adolphe Mandeau (a student of Carl Flesh). She has also participated in masterclasses given by Christian Tetzlaff, Leon Spierer, Cho Liang Lin and Paavo Pohjola.
In March 2001 she gave the first Scandinavian performance of Alfred Schnittke's Concerto grosso No. 5 with the Odense Symphony Orchestra under Jan Krenz. The concert was broadcast live on Danish National Radio and received excellent reviews. Shortly afterwards she was awarded the Danish Music Critics' Prize for a concert with the Tivoli Symphony Orchestra, the Frederiksborg County Music Prize and a grant from the Léonie Sonnings Foundation. In 1999 she won the Swedish Young Soloists' Competition.
She has performed as a soloist with the Copenhagen Philharmonic and the Helsinki Symphony Orchestra. Later this year, she is to play with the 'Amadeus' Chamber Orchestra and the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland.
Together with the Swedish pianist Joachim Olsson, she formed the duo 'Musica Mirabilis'. They are both also members of the Nordlys Quartet, which is nominated for a Grammy in 2002.
The repertoire of Christina M. Pryn covers a wide range of styles, from Baroque, Classical, Romantic to contemporary music. She has developed a special affinity for modern music. She has collaborated with many composers from Denmark and abroad, including Rafa³ Augustyn.
