Christine Michaela Pryn was born in 1976.
She made her debut on Danish Radio at the age of nine. After
four years of studies with Peder Elbaek at the Royal Academy
of Music in Copenhagen (1992-95), she continued her
education at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music and the
Folkwang Hochschule in Essen with Adolphe Mandeau (a student
of Carl Flesh). She has also participated in masterclasses
given by Christian Tetzlaff, Leon Spierer, Cho Liang Lin and
Paavo Pohjola.
In March 2001 she gave the first Scandinavian performance of
Alfred Schnittke's Concerto grosso No. 5 with the Odense
Symphony Orchestra under Jan Krenz. The concert was
broadcast live on Danish National Radio and received
excellent reviews. Shortly afterwards she was awarded the
Danish Music Critics' Prize for a concert with the Tivoli
Symphony Orchestra, the Frederiksborg County Music Prize and
a grant from the Léonie Sonnings Foundation. In 1999 she
won the Swedish Young Soloists' Competition.
She has performed as a soloist with the Copenhagen
Philharmonic and the Helsinki Symphony Orchestra. Later this
year, she is to play with the 'Amadeus' Chamber Orchestra
and the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland.
Together with the Swedish pianist Joachim Olsson, she formed
the duo 'Musica Mirabilis'. They are both also members of
the Nordlys Quartet, which is nominated for a Grammy in
2002.
The repertoire of Christina M. Pryn covers a wide range of
styles, from Baroque, Classical, Romantic to contemporary
music. She has developed a special affinity for modern
music. She has collaborated with many composers from Denmark
and abroad, including Rafa³ Augustyn. |
