Tadeusz Wielecki was born in Warsaw in
1954. He studied the double-bass and composition (with Włodzimierz
Kotoński) at the Academy of Music in Warsaw. Thanks to a
Witold Lutosławski grant, he continued his compositional
studies abroad, with Isang Yun in West Berlin and Klaus
Huber in Freiburg (1986-87).
His text-sound composition A Very True Story won the top
prize at the ear '95 Radio Competition of Electroacoustic
Music in Budapest. His Concerto rebours for violin and
orchestra received a recommendation at the unesco
International Composer's Rostrum in Paris (1999). As a
double-bass player he has performed in many European
countries and the United States. The promotion of modern
music is another important area of his activity. He has
introduced several series of radio features (on Polish Radio
2, 3 and Radio bis) addressed specifically to children and
young people: Hits of Contemporary Music', Something out of
Nothing' and Charming Sounds'. He also collaborated with the
Centre for Children's Art in Poznań.
He was Artistic Director of the iscm World Music Days in
Warsaw in 1992. He collaborates with the Okopowa' Cultural
Centre in Warsaw.
Since 1999 he has served as Director of the Warsaw Autumn'
International Festival of Contemporary Music. |
