Is a graduate of the F. Chopin Academy of Music in
Warsaw (diploma in clarinet, 2003). He has collaborated with the artists
from the theatre world such as Lech Jankowski, Magdalena Smalara, Artur
Lis and his Visual Arts Theatre OMakata1; he is also active in both
classical and avant-garde music, as well as performance. He took part in
the OWarsaw Autumn1 as a member of a youth orchestra conducted by Jacek
Kaspszyk, and has worked with such artists as Miko1aj Trzaska, Peter
Kowald, Andrzej Izdebski, Zdzis1aw Piernik, Pola Dwurnik, and Anna
Baumgard.
In 1998 Micha1 GórczyYski1s Trio received a recommendation at the First
Folk Music Festival ONew Tradition1, which gave them the possibility to
make archive recordings for Polish Radio.
GórczyYski participated in the production of three cds: Boys Band Trio
Curvatura Grande (2000), Pink Freud Zawijasy (2000) and GórczyYski/
Piernik (2001). In 2001 and 2002 he toured Russia with Boys Band Trio,
giving concerts in Jaroslav, Moscow and St. Peters-burg. Since 1998 he has
developed his own concept of survival performance, based on Energistic
Manifesto. He develops this idea through his performances (at the
festivals: Gdynia Summer Jazz Days, OThe Sting1, and galleries: OSpi›
71, OEufemia1, Artist1s House, OBoiler House1); as well as in his research
and teaching activity (he finished postgraduate pedagogical studies and a
course in music therapy). He contributes to the periodicals Heksis,Cogito
and Utforum.
Micha1 GórczyYski is a member of Kwartludium Ensemble, performing
contemporary music, especially written by young Polish composers.
His current project is a musical setting to a text by Itzig Manger,
a Jewish poet writing in Yiddish.
