He was assistant conductor with Bruno Aprea at the Martina Franca International Festival (the production of the first modern version of Leonardo Leo1s opera Amor vuol sofferenza; Italy, 1994). His major engagements have included Mascagni1s Iris at the Wexford Opera Festival (Ireland, 1995) and Verdi1s Traviata at the Spoleto Festival (1997). He has conducted many Italian ensembles including the Orchestra Citta di Ferrara, Roma Symphonia, Gruppo Strumentale Musica d1Oggi, appearing at OCivitafestival1, ONuova Consonanza1 and ORomaeuropa 20021.
Contemporary music is among Marco Angius1 main interests. He has conducted performances of Le marteau sans maître by Boulez and Schönberg1s Pierrot lunaire. The performance of Salvatore Sciar-rino1s Studi per l1intonazione for soloists and an ensemble of 100 flutes and 100 saxophones at the 2000 Festival delle Nazioni di Citta di Castello was met with both enthusiastic reception among audiences and critical acclaim (Le Monde de la Musique, Diapason, Répertoire, Musica).
Marco Angius1 teaching activities included positions at the Conservatories Santa Cecilia (199798) and Egidio Romualdo Duni (19992003) in Rome. At present, he teaches at the city1s Arts Academy, is the Principal Conductor of Algoritmo Ensemble, and contributes to the quarterly Hortus Musicus.

Its members have performed in such prestigious venues as the Berlin Philharmonic, Teatro alla Scala, and ircam, as well as at numerous festivals. The group1s debut at an all-Fedele concert during ORomaeuropa 20021 led to invitations to OCivica Scuola di Musica1 in Milan (May 2003), the Contemporary Music Festival in Bellinzona, Switzerland (September 2003), OWarsaw Autumn1 and ONew Auditorium1 in Rome (October 2003).
The repertoire of the ensemble includes major works of 20th-century music and premieres of new pieces, music for solo instruments and chamber ensemble (including those using electronics).
