Graduated from the Music Academy in Katowice in 1980,
where he studied French horn with A. Przyby1a. While still a student, he
won an honourable mention at the International Competition for Young Horn
Players in Pabianice (1979). Since 1980 he has been Principal Horn and
soloist in the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. In
198288 he collaborated with the Warsaw Philharmonic the National
Orchestra of Poland with which he made many tours of Europe, Asia and the
United States (over 100 concerts). In 198587 he worked as Principal Horn
in the Polish Chamber Orchestra Sinfonia Varsovia, with which he also gave
over 100 concerts.
Chamber music occupies a special place in his career. Since 1980 he has
been a member of the Warsaw Wind Quintet Da Camera. Foreign tours have
taken them to many European countries, Asia and, several times, to the
United States (including concerts at New York1s Carnegie Hall), winning
excellent reviews. They have also recorded four cds, of which the last
one, featuring works by 20th century Polish composers, was named Record of
the Year by Studio magazine in 1996 (chamber music category).
As a member of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, he has taken
part in the recording of over 100 LPs and CDs, performing solo French horn
parts in works by Mahler, Tchaikovsky, Richard Strauss, Brahms, Wagner and
others.
He also pursues a teaching career at the Music Academy in Wroc1aw (since
1995, as assistant professor) and at the Music Academy in Katowice (since
October 2001).
