born in 1956 in Lugano, studied the clarinet in Basel and
bass clarinet in Amsterdam. He has developed a fine career as a soloist and
in chamber ensembles, with performances at such prestigious events as the
Festival d’Automne in Paris, Salisbury Festive Games, ‘Wien
Modern’, the Bruckner Festival in Linz, the Lucerne Festival and new
music festivals in Huddersfield, Szombathely, and Witten. In addition to
performing Classical, Romantic and contemporary music, he is active in jazz
and improvisation. He has given many premieres of works written specially
for him and has participated in the recordings of Pierrot lunaire by Schönberg,
La chute d’Icare by Ferneyhough, Concerto by Jean Barraqué, Essaims
Cribles by Michael Jarrel and Machina Mundi by Emmanuel Nunes.
Ernesto Molinari is a member of ‘Klangforum Wien’. He has lived
in Vienna since 1994.
