Michał Gos was born in 1974. In his sound experiments he
employs not only percussion and quasi-percussion sets but also amplified
objects such as chairs, ash-trays, barrels, and clothes hangers.
He began his career on the alternative music scene in Gdańsk,
performing with various rock and jazz groups. In 1997 he started to
collaborate with the clarinetist Jerzy Mazzoll; initially they performed in
the rhythmic section ‘Arhythmic b&’, later in a new line-up
in ‘Arhythmic Perfection’. At the same time he was invited to
join the ‘Diffusion’ group, in which he performed as both
musician and actor in Wrocław, Olsztyn, Leipzig and Warsaw (Centre for
Contemporary Art, Warsaw Summer Jazz Days ’99).
He has collaborated with such musicians as Noel Akchote, John Edwards, Trey
Gunn, Tomasz Gwinciński, Andrzej Izdebski, Peter Kowald, Jacek Lachowicz,
Jacek Majewski, Pat Mastelotto, Wojtek Mazolewski, Piotr Pawlak, Tomek
Szwelnik, Assif Tsahar, Mikołaj Trzaska, Ryszard Tymon Tymański, and
Olgierd Walicki.
He has performed at numerous festivals including ‘Malta’ in
Poznań, ‘Yass-no’ and ‘Feta’ in Gdańsk, the Gdynia
Summer Jazz Days, ‘Przystanek Woodstock’, as well as
‘ArtGenda’ in Stockholm and skif in St Petersburg.
He currently focuses on two projects realized with the Warsaw guitarist
Andrzej Izdebski: ‘Sonus Akrobata’ and Boys Band Trio.
