Urszula Kryger began her musical career as a pianist. In
1988, she graduated from the piano class of the Music Academy in £ód¼.
Four years later, she received her diploma from the Academy’s Vocal
Departament, where she studied with Jadwiga Pietraszkiewicz. She continued
her vocal studies with André Orlowitz in Copenhagen. She has won several
awards at prestigious competitions. She was the first Polish singer to
appear at Milan’s La Scala with a Chopin song recital (1995). She has
worked with many prominent conductors, including Jan Krenz, Jerzy Semkow,
Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos and Sir Colin Davis. She has made numerous
recordings for radio in Poland, France, Germany and Switzerland, as well as
on various labels. A versatile singer, she feels equally at home in Lied,
chamber music, oratorios and cantatas.
