Ingrid Attrot, born in Canada, divides her time between opera and concert work. She has appeared as a soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and the Montreal Symphony with conductors such as Charles Dutoit, Sir Neville Marriner, Trevor Pinnock and Richard Hickox. Her work with Richard Hickox has included performances of Britten's War Requiem and Peter Grimes (as Ellen Orford) and Beethoven's Fidelio (Leonora). Her other major operatic engagements have included Miss Jessel in Britten's The Turn of the Screw at the English National Opera, Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni (Opera Northern Ireland), Abigaille in Verdi's Nabucco and Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte (Pacific Opera, Canada), and Governess in The Turn of the Screw (Pimlico Opera). For the Chandos label, Ingrid Attrot has recorded Respighi's song cycle Deita Silvane and Stanford's Stabat Mater (both with the BBC Philharmonic conducted by Richard Hickox), Vaughan Williams' Riders to the Sea and Holst's The Wandering Scholar (both with Northern Sinfonia and Richard Hickox).
Ingrid Attrot has a particular affinity for contemporary repertoire which was first recognized in her winning of the Eckhardt-Gramatte Competition, a major Canadian contemporary music award, and also being chosen as the major soloist of the Park Lane Group Series in London. This led to a number of collaborations and premieres for British composers including Geoffrey Burgon, Hugh Wood, Nicola LeFanu and Julian Philips. She has performed with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, the Orchestre National de Lyon (Webern songs), the French contemporary music ensemble GRAME (Kurtag's Messages of the late R.V. Troussova) and with Contrechamps (conducted by Heinz Holliger).
Her upcoming engagements include performances at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Salzburg Festival, as well as concerts in Bruges and Antwerp (Luigi Nono's Quando Stanno Morendo Diario Polacco N.2 with Champ d'Action).
