Born in Cheong-Ju (South Korea)
in 1975, she studied theory and composition with D. S. Choi. She continued
her studies with Bogu-s³aw Schaeffer and Adriana Hölszky at the
Mozarteum in Salzburg. Her works have been performed in Austria, Poland
and Germany, at such feativals as ‘St-Art’ in Salzburg, Herbst Zeitton/Tage
neuer Musik in Vienna, ‘young-euro-classics’ and Inventionen in
Berlin, and by leading ensembles including the Arditti Quartet,
Jugendphilharmonie Salzburg, Österreichische Ensemble für neue Musik and
Die Reihe. She received commissions from Austrian Radio, which featured a
concert devoted exclusively to her music.
She has held grants from the Austrian Government (1997), the
Chancellor’s Office (2000), Landesregierung Salzburg (1998) and daad
(2003). Her honours include the Recognition Prize from the Austrian
Chancellor, the Bernhard-Paumgartner-Medaille (2000), the Theodor Körner
Preis (2001) and a prize of the gedok International Composers’
Competition.
