Ensemble Timf
was founded in 2001 as an ambassador for the Tongyeong International Music Festival with a hope to establish a professional performing group that could represent contemporary Korean music. Since its foundation, the Ensemble has shown performing skills of high quality. In 2003 it started foreign tours. The Ensemble’s repertoire comprises music from the classical period to the present, both core repertoire and premieres of new pieces by Korean composers.
Ensemble timf has participated in the Tongyeong International Music Festival since 2001, appearing together with Ensemble Modern and Heinz Holliger, in the ‘Ligeti Project’, the ‘Kagel Project’ and a series of concerts in tribute to Luciano Berio. The Ensemble has been steadily expanding its repertoire, with a growing stress on contemporary music. Its tours across Asia and beyond serve to build bridges between Tongyeong and the rest of the world.
Over the past few years, it was invited to perform in Romania (Contemporary Music Days) and during the Darmstadt Summer Courses (the new work by German composer Hans Thomalla under Rüdiger Bohn and the world premieres of Korean composers, Eun-Hwa Cho and Nam-Kuk Kim).
This year’s concert schedule, in addition to the Warsaw Autumn, includes performances during the 25th acl World New Music Conference and Festival organized by the Asian Composers’ League.y.
