Hugo Noth, born in Freiburg im
Breisgau in 1943, began his musical studies in 1964 in Trossingen with
Fritz Dobler (accordion). He then studied also composition,
instrumentation and harmony with Helmut Degen and Bernhard Rövenstrunck.
He has been in charge of the accordion class at the State Higher School of
Music in Trossingen since 1972. He has given numerous concerts and
directed courses in Europe, both Americas, Canada and Russia, in-cluding
as a member of the Paris-based ‘Itinéraire’ new music ensemble.
Many works for solo accordion and chamber ensemble have been written on
his initiative and as
a result of his close collaboration with composers. He has given over 230
premieres of new pieces.
