Vladimir Baidov, the Artistic
Director of the Classic-Avantgarde Soloists Ensemble, was born in 1956 in
Vitebsk. He began his musical education by studying cello and double bass
in his native town. In 1982 he graduated from the Belorussian State
Conservatoire, where he also studied conducting with Ciruk, Provatorov and
Katayev. As a double bass player he is a prizewinner of several
competitions, including First Prize at the International Double Bass
Competition in Kishinyov (1988). As a member of the Belorussian State
Chamber Orchestra he took part in international festivals in Bratislava,
Prague, Sofia, Budapest, Lubljana, Helsinki and Oslo. In 1989 he founded
the Classic-Avantgarde Soloists Ensemble. >From 1985 he has been
teaching at the Belorussian State Academy of Music. Since 2001 he has
served as Artistic Advisor of the Belorussian State Chamber Orchestra.
He has conducted numerous concerts with orchestras in Minsk (Belorussian
Philharmonic), Rostov, Saratov, Astrakhan and Kislovodsk.
