László Hudacsek was born in
Hungary. He studied percussion in Debrecen with József Vrana, then in the
Karlsruhe College of Music with Isao Nakamura and with Péter Eötvös in
his new music ensemble. From 1990–93 he was a percussionist with the Pécser
Symphoniker. From 1994–2000 he was an assistant and musical partner of
Isao Nakamura.
He presently works as a soloist with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the
Bruckner Orchestra of Linz, Ensemble Resonance in Hamburg, and the
Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, with conductors including Dennis Russell
Davies, Heinz Holliger, Péter Eötvös, Mauricio Kagel, Zsolt Nagy and
Karlheinz Stockhausen.
He has also performed with Saarland Radio Orchestra, Ensemble Modern
(Frankfurt), ensemble recherche (Freiburg), Musikfabrik (Cologne),
Ensemble Cologne, Stockhausen Ensemble, Israel Contemporary Players and
Klangforum Wien.
He was the First Prize winner of the 13th Annual Japan Wind and Percussion
Competition in Tokyo in 1996. He has held grants from the International
Institute for Music in Darmstadt (1994, 1996, 1998) and from Baden-Württemberg
for the project ‘Percussion and Electronics – New Media’
(1995–1997). In 2003 he was a guest artist at the zkm (Center for Art
and Media Technology Karlsruhe).
He has been a featured artist at numerous music festivals including the
Berliner Festwochen, Musik-Biennale and MaerzMusik (Berlin), Ars Musica (Brussels),
Eclat Festival (Stuttgart), Music Triennale (Cologne), Ars Electronica
(Linz), Prague Spring, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Tel Aviv
Biennale, the Warsaw Autumn, and Wien Modern.
He has had concert appearances in such prestigious venues as the
Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Konzerthaus in Berlin and Vienna, the
Messiaen Hall in Paris, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Jerusalem’s Music
Centre, Sala Cecilia Meirelles (Rio de Janeiro) and the Bario Hall in
Tokyo.
He has taken part in first performances of many new works including
L’Art Bruit by Mauricio Kagel (as Isao Nakamura‘s assistant), Andere Räume
by Robert HP Platz, Little Big Bang by Uwe Kremp and Births by Valerio
Sannicandro.
László Hudacsek has lived in Karlsruhe since 1993.
