Anna Śliwa is a graduate of
the Music Academy in Kraków. She plays various types of string
instruments (Baroque violin, viola, viola d’amore, fidel, pochette as
well as amplified viola and electric violin), specializing in the
performance of early music, both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles of
various instrumental combinations. She works closely with such period
instrument ensembles as Camerata Cracovia, Ars Cantus, Concerto Polacco,
Fiori Musicali, Il Tempo and Consortium Sedinum. At present she is a
member of the period instrument ensemble Musicae Antiquae Collegium
Varsoviense of the Warsaw Chamber Opera.
Her repertoire includes many rarely performed compositions. She has made
numerous recordings as a member of chamber ensembles and taken part in
prestigious festivals in Poland (Wratislavia Cantans, Warsaw Autumn, Music
in Old Kraków) and abroad (Europäisches Musikfest in Stuttgart, Arte
Sintesi in Enschede, the Netherlands and Festival van Vlaanderen –
Brugge). Foreign tours have taken her to many European countries, the
United States and Japan.
