Jan Cielecki is a graduate of
the Music Academy in Kraków. He plays the clarinet in the city’s
Philharmonic Orchestra.
He performs regularly as a soloist and in chamber ensembles, as well as on
radio and television in Poland and abroad. He has worked with the Polish
Chamber Philharmonic (conducted by Wojciech Rajski), the ‘Amadeus’
Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra (cond. Agnieszka Duczmal) and Sinfonietta
Cracovia.
He is a member of the Wind Quintet of the Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra
and of the ‘Muzyka Centrum’ Artistic Association.
the kraków percussion group
was founded in 1984 on the initiative of Jan Pilch. It brings together
musicians associated with the city’s Music Academy (teachers, graduates
and students). The group specializes in 20th-century music. Thanks to the
participation of the conductor, Stanisław Welanyk, the Group can also
take part in performances requiring a larger instrumental ensemble. The
Kraków Percussion Group has to its credit first performances of works by
composers such as Alejandro Iglesias Rossi, Bogusław Schaeffer, Hanna
Kulenty, Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar and Nancy van der Vate. It has taken
part in prestigious music festivals in Poland (Warsaw Autumn 1989–1992,
2000, Poznań Music Spring 1991, Days of Percussion Music in Opole 1991,
iscm World Music Days 1992, Szczecin, Baranów Sandomierski) and abroad (Tage
für Zeitgenössische
Musik in Dresden, ‘Musica
Viva’ in Munich, 12th Music
Biennale in Berlin, ‘Melos-Ethos’ ‘91 in Bratislava and Gosten
Hofer Jazz Tage ’93 in Nuremberg). It has made recordings for Bayerische
Rundfunk, Norddeutsche Rundfunk, Westdeutsche
Rundfunk, vpro Amsterdam, Polish and French tv. Its
recording of A.I.Rossi’s
Ancestral Rites of a Forgotten
Culture won First Prize at the
International Composers’ Rostrum in Paris (1985).
In December 1999 the Kraków Percussion Group made its cd debut (Space of
Rhythm).
